Being Green Never Felt So Cool
National Window Film Day Initiated to Raise Awareness to Energy Saving Benefits
A recent national survey by Harris Poll reveals the cooling benefits of window film are unfamiliar to about 50 percent of Americans. According to the US Department of Energy, cooling and heating accounts for more than half of the energy use in a typical U.S. home, making it the largest energy expense for most homes. And roughly 40 percent of unwanted heat that builds up in a home comes in through windows.
The International Window Film Association has an answer to lower this expense and increase energy efficiency in those homes, especially important as climatologists predict a hotter than normal summer. By adding window film to existing windows, cooling costs can be reduced by 30% and while delivering seven times the energy savings benefits per dollar spent when compared to replacement windows. “That is great news for homeowners looking to make improvements to their home,” said Sandy Clarke, President of ATD Solar & Security Inc. “We are proud to work with the IWFA to bring consumer awareness to the benefits of window film.”
Window film can be professionally installed to existing windows to help upgrade them to today’s energy and safety standards. Once professionally installed, home and business owners can enjoy immediate benefits such as a lower energy costs, furnishings and skin protection from harmful UV rays, improved safety from dangerous glass shard from broken glass, at a fraction of the cost of replacement windows.
Located in Frederick MD, ATD Solar & Security is a qualified member and installer that is affiliated with the IWFA, a nonprofit industry trade organization representing the manufacturers, distributors and dealers of window film. “We are excited to be a part of the National Window Film Day initiative,” said Sandy Clarke. “It is important to share the news that making your home more energy efficient, doesn’t have to cost a lot!”
As part of National Window Film Day, the IWFA is offering several free booklets on the energy savings and health benefits of window film, as well as informational videos and articles on www.iwfa.com.
